This month is super exciting because Brittany and I get to announce the winner of the #SummerSewChallenge! It’s been awesome seeing all of the makes come in from so many talented people. You all are so awesome and I’m beyond grateful for your participation in my very first challenge. Thank you! A special thanks goes to the McCall Pattern company for being a gracious sponsor of this challenge. They are an awesome company that I can’t wait to partner again with in the future.

With that being said, the #SummerSewChallenge is officially closed! We will be announcing winners this week, so stay tuned. Our three winners will receive FREE patterns from the McCall Pattern company, and of course, we’ll shout them out all over our social media platforms. I can’t wait!!

Ok. Now that that’s out the way, I seriously have another HUGE announcement. I know, I know….but this is really BIG. If you follow me on social media (shameless plug), then you’ve already seen the announcement. I had my first article published in Sew Sew Def Magazine! That’s right, I’m a magazine contributor! My article is featured in the July/Aug issue, shown below.

I’ve literally been holding this in since May. Imagine the excitement that I had when I saw Mimi G’s name in my inbox. I was completely floored and honored to be considered to be a part of such a great brand. Sew Sew Def Magazine, founded by Mimi G of Mimi G Style and Norris Dante Ford, is a multi-cultural sewing magazine providing content for both men and women. With each issue, you receive two free pdf patterns. Articles range from tips on garment construction, step-by-step tutorials, to sandal making. It’s an all encompassing sewing magazine that fills the gap of minority and male representation in the sewing community. Kudos for the two of them meeting a need in our community!

My first article went live as of yesterday. I am featured in the July issue that is available to download here. Check out my article on turning your remnants into amazing fashion pieces! Be sure to come back here and share your thoughts once you’ve read it. I’d love your feedback. And, of course, don’t forget to subscribe to the magazine to get more of my exclusive articles that won’t be featured here.

Go ahead. Check it out!
