I hope you all enjoyed my last post, which deviated from sewing and dealt with womanhood. Check it out here. Now, it’s back to business. This week’s project was the Simplicity 1108 Kimono pattern.

I’m not one for following trends, but I do know that kimonos are in. I’ve seen more kimonos and floor length dusters this season than ever. After seeing a friend wearing one, I had to make my own because it looked so comfortable and made for an easy outfit. I paired it with my favorite skinny jeans, brown pumps, and a plain white v-neck tee.
I picked up the pattern during Joann’s big pattern sale. I talked about it in my Huge Pattern Haul blog and video. While picking up the patterns, I browsed the aisles for potential fabric and immediately fell in love with this tropical rayon fabric. I was even more convinced to use it for this pattern after feeling it. It is amazingly soft!

I sewed view A of this pattern in a size medium. This view is designed to fall below the knee, which makes it perfect for wearing with leggings. I decided to wear it open; however, while playing around with it I discovered that it’s be perfect when bloused over a skinny belt.

Let me know what you think of this fabric and pattern in the comments below! Check out my review on this pattern on my Youtube channel.
